GROUPE SEB ACQUIRES WILBUR CURTIS
Groupe SEB acquired Wilbur Curtis , the second-largest American manufacturer of professional coffee equipment . The firm , whose sales have steadily increased , has a production facility in Montebello , California , that employs 300 people .

RCD HOTELS PARTNERS WITH DUETTO
The Red Dot Design Award , an international honor celebrating products with outstanding design and quality , awarded Rak Porcelain ’ s Hide a Red Dot Award in the Product Design category . Designed by Gemma Bernal and the ceramic experts at Rak Porcelain , Hide is based on the principle of surprising the guest , enlivening emotions and taking them on a sensory journey . Hide features three design elements : an expanding water drop , a threeleaf clover and a “ crowning taste experience in three steps .”
RCD Hotels is partnering with Duetto to gain better forecasting insights and to drive more revenue at five properties , including its newest properties , Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos and Nobu Hotel Los Cabos , both in Cabo San Lucas , Mexico . RCD Hotels will initially install Duetto at five properties , implementing Duetto ’ s GameChanger application to simplify pricing processes , ScoreBoard to simplify reporting processes and BlockBuster to simplify group contracts .
“ We want to work with a company that is thinking outside of the box and investing in its all-inclusive product offerings ,” says Lourdes Ancona Valdes , corporate director of revenue management , RCD Hotels . “ Duetto is ahead of the game in this regard , and we expect that together we can push the envelope even further .”
Nobu Los Cabos , opening this summer in Cabos San Lucas , Mexico , will employ Duetto ’ s applications .
HostMilano will be held from October 18 to 22 in Milan , Italy .

READIES 2019 SHOW
International hospitality trade fair HostMilano will feature hundreds of events , workshops , presentations , training sessions and competitions when it opens its doors on October 18 in Milan , Italy . In addition to the fair ’ s Smart Label innovation award , this year ’ s show marks the debut of Design Talks , seven professional seminars for architects , experts and trade operators offering a user-centric approach focusing on digital transformation .
In trend reports released ahead of the show , organizers cite the growing prevalence of green venues and predict that projects will more often be offered as turnkey solutions with completely designed formats . Tableware trends include products influenced by gastrophysics , a science that looks at how plate colors and shapes influence a diner ’ s perception of food . HostMilano also highlights robotics and sustainability as subjects to be explored at the show . Reducing waste and conserving linens , food and water also are of growing importance across the industry , say organizers .
The show announced partnerships with North American trade associations , including Foodservice Equipment Distributors Association , Supply and Equipment Foodservice Alliance , The Hospitality Equipment Network and more . HostMilano also announced that it has been certified by the U . S . Commercial Service , making it the sector ’ s only event with the certification in Italy .
