still love picking up magazines , rubbing fine paper between my thumb and forefinger and appreciating the beauty of engaging images that always look best in print . But , please , don ’ t call me old-fashioned . In fact , I might be on the verge of suffering from nomophobia ( no mobile phone phobia ), an addiction to staying connected — and by my simple observation of everyone walking around tapping and swiping , I am not alone . I don ’ t sleep with my mobile phone yet , but it is almost always within arm ’ s length .
As a journalist , I am also a news junkie , always aiming to be the first to break a story in our daily newsletter ( and I think we do quite often ) and always checking the headlines , with several alerts programmed into my smartphone so I know about breaking news right away . I have to know , and I want to know first . That is why I am very happy to report that our website , hotelsmag . com , has been redesigned and optimized .
Essentially it ’ s mobile-first thinking for the next generation of information sharing . Using a concept called responsive design , the relaunched hotelsmag . com allows for all HOTELS content to be fully accessible and optimized in any online environment : desktop , tablet or mobile .
Additionally , full social media integration allows users to easily share articles via LinkedIn , Facebook and Twitter . It ’ s all part of our mission to bring our leading-edge coverage
of industry issues to life . Comment threads also have been streamlined , eliminating redundancy and making it simpler to follow the discussion threads . And there is more on tap in the coming months , so check back often for updates and additional features .
At the same time , the digital edition of HOTELS is now available on the iPad . We ’ re very excited to take full advantage of the iPad ’ s high-resolution graphics to showcase all of our beautiful photography , and we are laying plans to introduce some exclusive interactive and multimedia content for this special edition . Simply search “ HOTELS magazine ” in the iTunes store to download the app . A version for Android tablets is coming soon .
