designer of the Nobu Berkeley Street restaurant now relocated to Portman Square , gives the lobby , lounge , bar and dining areas a clubby buzz , using simple materials like concrete and iron in sophisticated ways , alongside eye-catching sparkles such as Ivan Black ’ s 16 ft . -long rotating sculpture hung from the lobby ceiling .
Make Architects employed virtual reality to present its bedroom and suite concept using natural oak and muted palettes to create a tranquil escape . Campbell says the project team found it invaluable : “ VR makes the time , materials , equipment , investment and the spatial disruption required by mock-up rooms more efficient .”
With self-care surging , spa treatment rooms and fitness areas offer further points of brand entry via memberships , one-off sessions and package bookings .
Launching at Portman Square before its wider rollout is Nobu Pilates , a trademarked fitness program with Power , Precision and Pure classes combining classical Pilates with high-intensity training . As a result , “ people who wouldn ’ t normally enter the hotel are booking for breakfast , lunch and private parties ,” Campbell says . The hotel is moving into medical wellness , partnering with a soon-to-be-announced physio doctor to treat locals and guests .
Nobu Portman Square was also the first to trial the brand ’ s new app with multilingual concierge services connecting loyalists to Nobu hotels , restaurants , gyms and cultural events , such as those in the property ’ s experiential gallery space , The White Box .
With this network of pathways to connect with the brand , Nobu looks poised for a multifaceted future .
