Data from the enD of 2013 has leD to a change toward the top of HOTELS ’ annual ranking of the
world ’ s biggest hotel companies with Hilton Worldwide leapfrogging Marriott International and now second only to IHG in total guestrooms . At the other end of the top 10 , two Chinese companies made news with Home Inns & Hotels Management pushing past Shanghai Jin Jiang International Hotel Group Co . into ninth place .
Asia Pacific-based hotel companies , particularly in China and Southeast Asia , also saw large gains . For example , China Lodging Group added nearly 40,000 guestrooms .
