SECRET SPACES The adjacent craft cocktail venue , Bar Marilou , sees Ace partner with French hospitality group Quixotic Projects on its first U . S . venture . Located in the City Hall Annex ’ s former law library , the opulent , ruby red public bar has a secret : A door disguised as a bookshelf provides a hidden passageway to Maison de la Luz ’ s private speakeasy .
Maison de la Luz also shares amenities with its Ace neighbor . “ There ’ s definitely a kinship between the two hotels ,” says Brian Englehart , general manager of Maison de la Luz , with benefits including access to Ace ’ s rooftop pool , F & B venues and music clubs . In a city filled with interesting hotels , Maison de la Luz manages to be different .
“ We ’ ve definitely seen a market performance equal to the quality of hotel we ’ ve built , which is a bit of an outlier ,” Englehart says . “ From the start , la Luz ’ s mission was to create an experience not yet seen in our market through design and exceptional service .”
