Sense of place Hotel Le Toiny also looked to reflect the local area as much as possible in Restaurant Le Gaiac ’ s design — another prominent principle in many hotel restaurant dining rooms today . Karine Bruneel of local French Indies Design utilized teak , recycled wood , stonewashed fabric and vintage leather to convey the feeling of St . Barts . “ It ’ s a soft , natural , contemporary and chic design ,” Lombard says . “ The materials used have an inherent softness and a decidedly Caribbean sense of place .”
Creating a sense of place was also central to the concept of the new Spur Restaurant & Bar at Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa in Jackson , Wyoming . All of the tabletops and bar tops were built from the remnants of a Plano , Idaho , granary dating back to 1904 , and all of the restaurant ’ s wall paneling is crafted from snow fencing , a local reclaimed material . “ Sense of place is always very important , particularly in Jackson Hole ,” notes JuliAnne Forrest , director of marketing communications
