STANDARD INTERNATIONAL ' S JIMMY SUH CARVES OUT A NEW NICHE BY LOOKING OUTSIDE TRADITIONAL BOUNDARIES .
By JEFF WEINSTEIN , EDITOR IN CHIEF

Perhaps it is better to call Jimmy Suh , chief revenue officer at Standard International , a scientist , because the New York City-based company has afforded him the latitude to experiment .

What Suh has learned is to apply some of the latest and greatest innovations from the main – Uber , Airbnb and Snapchat – because he now knows there is no one-size-fits-all success strategy to maximize revenue and make hotel spaces more exciting .
“ You absolutely need to take the brand and the culture that the brand represents and carve out your own formula and your own path to come up with the financial and brand success ,” says the 50-year-old industry veteran who along the way has led revenue management , ecommerce and distribution programs at Loews Hotels and Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants . “ The people who are going to fail most miserably are the ones who are either trying to replicate or follow the trends and the paths that have been set out by other hotels . Those who succeed actually take their learnings and understand that following the cattle call always represents an opportunity left behind .”
Because , Suh says , he is surrounded by a creative and cultural mindset , it has helped him discover a new formula for success that within two years he says could generate a higher market value than the other
