Isadore Sharp never intended to become an hotelier . He was a builder , and the first hotel he constructed , in 1955 , was for a friend . But his curiosity about the business was piqued and in 1961 he and his partners constructed and opened the Four Seasons Motor Hotel in Toronto . With an uncompromising approach to luxury , an eye for detail and a passion for hospitality , he made Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts synonymous with the highest standards of service .
