Since 2007 , when Frank Fiskers became CEO of Scandic – as part of a private equity buyout – the company has almost doubled in size and has transformed into a leading hotel company in the Nordics with 235 hotels in operation and development , and close to a 30 % market share .
Born in Denmark and educated at Cornell and business schools in London and Switzerland , Fiskers has held senior roles with Rezidor , Hilton and First Hotels , and he has become recognized for driving sustainable business practices and employee diversity .
Scandic has taken several key steps under Fiskers ’ leadership , including the acquisition of the 73 Rica hotels in 2014 and the successful IPO of the group in December 2015 .
KP Ho joined the family business in 1981 . In 1994 , after the success of rehabilitating an abandoned tin mine into Laguna Phuket , Thailand , Asia ’ s first integrated resort , he launched Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts . Banyan Tree now manages more than 38 hotels and resorts and over 70 spas and 80 retail galleries , as well as three golf courses .
Born in 1952 , Ho was educated in Tunghai University , Taiwan ; Stanford University , California ; and the University of Singapore . He worked as a broadcast and financial journalist and the Economics Editor of the Far Eastern Economic Review before finding his passion in the hotel business .
In 2015 , Ho published his first book , “ The Ocean in a Drop ,” a part-autobiography and part-lecture . He is married to Claire Chiang , senior vice president , Banyan Tree Holdings . They have three children and welcomed their first grandchild in 2015 .
