Can you please describe the importance of
hospitality studies in the Armenian market?
As a person extremely passionate about the
hotel industry not only in Armenia but
worldwide, I am trying as much as possible
to keep an eye on the happenings in the
hotel industry and be in the loop of hotel
trends and brands and in general about
all the topics that revolve around hotels.
I truly believe that for becoming a
hospitality expert one should be
passionate about it. Passion brings
the desire to be open-minded and
learn new things. Without proper in-
depth knowledge of hotel operations,
one cannot succeed in the market like
Yerevan where the qualified staff is
highly demanded due to the booming
number of new opening hotels.
Tell us more about your trainings in the
hotel industry: The format of the trainings
and services you provide.
I started to conduct trainings three years ago.
In the 2017 American University of Armenia
Extension invited me to read a course about “Revenue
Management”. At that time “Revenue Management”
was just entering into the Yerevan hotel market and was a
newly developing field. We announced a one-month course on
this topic. This was my first-time experience as a lecturer. It passed quite successfully,
created a lot of buzz around it and in 2018 together with AUA we did another hotel
related course “Hotel Operations”.
In 2019 the American University of Armenia Extension decided to repeat the “Revenue
Management” course due to its high demand which we did in March this year.
The set-up of the pieces of training is classroom style with a very calm and friendly
atmosphere of open discussions, real examples, detailed information and sharing of
opinions.
Besides being a hospitality expert could you please tell us about the hotels you are
working now?
For the last four and a half years, I am working at Hyatt Place Yerevan and Hyatt Place
Jermuk hotels as Cluster Assistant General Manager. Both properties are beautiful
and up to date offering all the services and features a traveler can ask for. It’s quite a
challenging time to time but I enjoy working in an international world known hotel
company like Hyatt which allows me to develop myself and my colleagues, gain more
expertise and experience every day, overcome challenges
and achieve goals, participate in international trainings
and exhibitions, get to know new people and see
other properties around the world.
