Trump ’ s Turnberry hotel wins ‘ Scottish Hotel of the Year ’

The award comes only two years after Trump declared that he “ took one of the great assets of Scotland and took it to a level it ’ s never seen ”.
The redesign of the hotel ’ s golf courses came in for special praise with one judge commenting on how heavily involved Trump was in the work .
A judge said : “ Donald Trump , a keen and quite talented player himself , was heavily involved in the redesign work . He worked closely with Martin Ebert and spent many full days on the course with the redesign team .
“ A new halfway house on the Ailsa course [ which ] has been created in the famous Turnberry lighthouse must rank among the most spectacular of any of the world ’ s golf course mid-round watering holes .
“ It almost goes without saying that the condition of the Turnberry courses cannot be faulted . On the day of my inspection , after a long spell of bitterly cold weather , the course was immaculate and would have been capable of hosting a major event .”

LEGAL BATTLE

Bournemouth hoteliers launch legal challenge against £ 70m hotel development

Hotel operators are applying for a judicial review over a hotel development by Bournemouth Borough Council , saying it threatens the future of independent businesses .
Peel Hotels and Bespoke Hotels , representing several hotels in the town , are bring the action against the scheme which the council ’ s own officers have described as “ high risk ”.
The circa 320-bedroom , two-hotel and health club / spa scheme near the Bournemouth International Centre has attracted controversy through the council ’ s plans to fund 100 % of the total £ 70m development costs , creating a risk-free project for the developer .
Peel Hotels , which operates the Norfolk Royale Hotel in the town , and Bespoke , which has oversight over the Hallmark Carlton and Hallmark East Cliff hotels in Bournemouth , have consulted with other local hotels ahead of their action .
The hoteliers also believe the development would add unneeded capacity to the Bournemouth hotel industry and would impact many traditional and long-established hotels , with several closures likely .
Peel and Bespoke have informed the council they have launched legal proceedings to obtain a judicial review as to how it came to its decision to press ahead with the development .
