EDITOR’S INTRO
WELCOME TO THE BRIT LIST 2018
Who would have thought that a tiny spec of land in the Northern Hemisphere could have such
a large impact on the rest of the world? British designers, architects and hoteliers continue to be
a force to be reckoned with when it comes to unveiling hotels around the world that completely
challenge pre-existing conventional design and architecture. The designers, hoteliers and architects
that make up the 2018 Hotel Designs Brit List operate in Britain today as nothing short of world
class. Launched last year, The Brit List is not about politics. Instead, it’s a platform that recognises
the most influential personalities working in our industry.
Over the past couple of months, we have once again let our readers have their say, to nominate
who they believe are worthy of being included in The Brit List 2018. We opened the floodgates
and after briefing our readers to highlight exceptional personalities who further push our industry
forward on an international level, and the results have
been eye-opening.
Narrowing down the shortlist has been a wonderful
process to be at the helm of, and one that I could
not have done without the hard work of our whole
team. In addition, our fabulous judges have each
brought to the panel unique gems of knowledge and
understanding on what makes Britain the international
design hub it is known as being today.
The climax of this nationwide search is The Brit List
2018. This special publication lists our final 75 who
club together to become Britain’s leading hotel design
influencers. In addition to these profiles, we have
published a handful of exclusive interviews from judges
and sponsors for good measure. Long may Britain
continue to be at the centre of the hotel design world.
