The celebration upon his reappearance was said to have been so clamorous that it awoke the dead from their lethargy. On the second day, elements of the traditional Thai rocket festival are held, in which a number of them are launched to the skies in what is seen as a merit making ceremony. The dances and the mask parades continue throughout the day. Finally, we come down to the third day of this festival, during which everyone around the village gathers in order to listen to sermons and lectures imparted by the more prominent and respected Buddhist monks. Loei is a region that at large has not been gripped by the trends of mass tourism even though it has so much to offer to the visitor. It is equally one of Thailand’s most sparsely populated provinces, which means that if you seek a touch of tranquillity and solitude, it is exactly the place to go to. The Loei traveller will find bliss in the freshness of its mountainous breeze and the quietness of its natural forestland and see side of Thailand he would have never expected to encounter. One can conquer the flat plains of some of the lower hills and bask in the evening dusk light as the sun sets over the trees to conclude a productive and relaxing day. In conclusion Loei is a province one must truly take the time to travel to. Discovering its rich and unique culture whilst simultaneously enjoying the cleanliness and peace of its environment is something that can be truly gratifying to the traveller.
