District, comprising
The Emporium and The
EmQuartier, in collaboration with
the Tourism Authority of Thailand
(TAT) and the Bangkok Metropolitan
Administration is presenting “The EM
District Presents Bangkok Illumination
2015.” The festival of lighting technology
art is in Thailand for the first time and
opened with a star studded party on
December 1st.

The EM District featured special shows
for the first time in Thailand which
included Austrian import Mirror Man
who reflected colorful lights; There were

special performances by Ken Pupoom
Phongpanu’s and Janie Tienphosuwan
also.
At Bangkok Illumination 2015 you’ll
find bright works of art incorporating
colors, lights and sounds to illuminate
the EM District, Benjasiri Park, and
Sukhumvit Road. There are works
by world-renowned and Thai artists,
some of which are up-and-coming, new
generation and college students who
won at the Bangkok Illumination 2015
Workshop.
The festival’s highlight is the 3D
Mapping performance celebrating
HM the King’s 88th birthday. The film
integrates 3D Mapping with images
projected onto the facades of The
Emporium and The EmQuartier.
There is artwork by world-class artist
Jiro Endo in collaboration with Thai
sculptor Pongsatat Uaiklang and Thai
architect Duangrit Bunnag whose work
is under the Leaf Form concept inspired
by leaves’ movements.
Together with lighting techniques
and image movements, the artwork is
lively. Japanese artists Eiji Sumi and
Treborikki’s work is titled, Time, which
blends light and sound movements to
reflect the mystery of time passing in
