Putahracsa and Casanova
Wines, Welcome to our
Passion Dinner
A
very special wine dinner
was held at the Putahracsa’s
Oceanside beachfront Restaurant
On April 1st. Even though it
was on a date known as April’s Fools
Day, the Putahracsa’s Executive chef
Khun Wittawat wasn’t fooling around
when he prepared seriously delicious
dishes to the delight of all those who
attended.
The five courses that were served were
each expertly paired with a wine from
the Casanova vineyards of Talca, Chile.
Four generations of the Casanova family
have worked the family business started
by Eliseo Casanova at the end of the 19th
Century. Guests were treated to hearing
where and how the wines are produced
from Hugo Casanova, great grandson of
the founder, who was in attendance.
The evening started at the Mondo
Vino wine bar across the street from
Oceanside for Aperitif’s and Canapé’s
while conversing with friends, new and
old.
Once moved and seated guests were
treated to an appetizer of Crab Maki
consisting of fresh crab, avocado, and
tomato with a cucumber dressing. This
was paired with a Hugo Casanova
“Reserva” Sauvignon Blanc 2012.
Next from the kitchen came a Scallop
and Prawn dish with spiced lentil’s
served “Romesco style”. This dish was
paired with a Casanova “Antano Reserv”
Chardonay 2012.
Following the seafood theme guests
were treated to Lobster Bolognese,
stuffed in a Pacheri pasta. Poured with
this course was a Casanova “Reserve”
Cabernet Sauvignon 2013.
The main course offered a choice
between a Beef Fillet “Piedmontese
Fassona” or King Mackerel, both baked
with herbs and bread crumbs. Wine
pairing was a Casanova “Founder’s
Reserve” Don Aldo 2010.
Desert ended this gastronomical
delight with guests served a Crispy AOC
Goat cheese accompanied by tomato jam
and sour dough chips which was enjoyed
with a Casanova “Antono Reserve”
Carmenere 2012.
It is not often that Putahracsa puts
on a wine dinner but when they do it
is seriously good and deserves not be
missed.
