Regular shuttle buses run from the train station to the resort Both the French and Italian sides of the slopes suit beginners and intermediates best. Both have some very wide, easy runs that are delightful cruises. But both have some steeper pistes and attractive off piste too. a great experience in itself (the fondue and raclette are excellent), and also means that the restaurant, which used to only open for lunch, can benefit from evening trade too and so become more financially sustainable. As well as the new pistes and lift, an Igloo Village opened near the bottom of the Plan du Repos chairlift for 2018/19. It is open 9am to 5pm, with an Ice Bar and cheese fondue and platters of mixed charcuterie available for lunch. CGH seemed to have judged the market well and provide the right quality, facilities and flexibility for today’s families – and the right mix of modern facilities with traditional Alpine style chalet buildings. And all amidst those stunning views across toward Les Arcs. One clever recent innovation is that those staying in the village can travel on a piste machine at night up to a restaurant (l’Antigel) at 2000m. This is www.larosiere.net
