true to the Core an interview with Pierre Mattocks, Chief Executive Officer of AppleCore Foods AppleCore Foods Ltd operates in the local food and beverage market dealing with the importation warehousing and distribution of such products. Amid the highly competitive environment, AppleCore Foods differentiates itself by selecting and distributing high quality products and delivering a premium service to its clients. Hospitality Malta caught up with AppleCore Foods’ Chief Executive Officer Pierre Mattocks, who brings thirty-two years of experience in the field and explains why AppleCore has become one of Malta’s leading players in the field. P Mattocks does not mince his words. ierre His response to my question as to why he left a job he held for twenty seven years to set up his own shop was very direct. He resigned from a compa- ny that he had created and managed because circum- stances were untenable at the time. Any regrets? I was met with an emphatic no, and a thorough conviction that it was one of the best decisions he has ever taken. AppleCore operates from a custom built state-of-the- art facility in Naxxar. With an area of over 1,500m 2 , the temperature-controlled warehousing space in- cludes dry, ambient, frozen and temperature-con- trolled storage facilities. Furthermore, the company has a number of vehicles for dry food transportation, for refrigerated and also for frozen foods transporta- tion. This ensures that while products are transported from AppleCore’s warehousing facilities to resellers, there is no compromise on their quality and freshness. AppleCore was born seven years ago. The rationale behind the name is simple. One which did not take long to come up with – Apple - synonymous word in itself and starts with the first letter of the alphabet. Core – most of the team that Pierre worked with in his previous company followed him to build the core of what the company is today, plus, Pierre smiles, the core of the apple is what makes the fruit good! One of the very first decisions Pierre took at AppleCore was to become ISO 9001 Certified. In fact, Pierre proudly states that AppleCore is one of the three companies operating in the industry that main- tain such a certification.
