The strategy
Chev. Anthony C. Coleiro
behind every success story
I
t
may seem at first glance that there isn’t much to
running a hospitality concern in today’s scenario.
But in my role as a hospitality management consult-
ant, I need to take care at times of property selection,
legalities, property management, construction ar-
rangement, operations management, training, staff-
ing, and other operational, management and strat-
egy-related functions of the hospitality organisation.
This issue of Hospitality Malta presents to its readers the
fact that every set of styles, differentiating factors and
core competences uniquely complement different
strategy teams.
In our interview with Dr Gavin Gulia, Executive
Chairman of Malta Tourism Authority, it has emerged that
a unified management role ensures strong, central
leadership and increases efficiency.
HOSPITALITY MALTA
We see how Villa Arrigo’s Veronica Zammit
Tabona continues her father Ralph Arrigo’s legacy by
modernising the venue without impinging upon its
classical uniqueness.
Daniel Grima, Managing Director of Solana
Hotel & Spa, shows us how his inbred skills and his
extensive background in Hospitality IT have assisted
him to leverage two joint 4 star operations so as to
implement major restructuring works and moderni-
sation of the hotel whilst keeping in check any adverse
effects to the bare minimum.
Shawn Muscat, General Manager of Urban
Valley Resort & Spa has made use of his two decades of
experience in the industry to profitably implement
the unique concept of presenting an urban oasis of
serenity and peace to Malta’s clientele.
These and other interesting and useful factors form the
basis of this edition of Hospitality Malta’s contents.
I wish you a most enjoyable and fruitful read.
