RADIOLOGY SERVICES
The hospital offers a wide range of preventative and diagnostic radiology services including x-rays,
mammograms, ultrasounds, MRI, OPG, and CT scan supported by well-equipped ultra-modern
machinery and highly skilled radiologists who are certified by the Kenya Medical Practitioners &
Dentists Board and Kenya Radiation Protection Board and have specialized training in the use of
today's advanced imaging tools. Doctors in Department of Radiology provide the highest quality
diagnostic and treatment imaging services in a caring, safe and efficient environment.
M.P. Shah Hospital has radiology rooms in which all the General and Specialised Radiological
examinations are done. We have a PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System) which help us
to store patients’ information for more than 10 years in safe digital format that communicate with all our
equipment modalities. The reporting of images is done via voice recognition by the Radiologists.
• The Department also has three top of the range Ultrasound Equipment which can carry out
Echocardiograms, Doppler examination of the vascular system and 3D/4D examinations of the
Foetus in pregnancy.
• The X-ray machines are available both within the unit and within the wards.
• The C. T. Equipment has Siemens Multi Slice Somatom equipment which besides doing all the
general examinations can carry out specialized cardiac Imaging to monitor the heart condition.
• The Mammography machine is used to screen for breast to look for early signs of breast cancer
in healthy women who have no symptoms. Screening for cancer aims to find cancers as early
as possible. The mammograms are used to screen for breast cancer in women every 3 years
between the ages of 50 and 70. A mammogram is a specialized x-ray of the breast.
• MRI machine is a Siemens Magnetom Verio 3 Tesla, to carry out various tests with MRI compatible
monitors to carry out tests on sedated patients.
• OPG machine this provides digital panoramic imaging of the upper and lower jaws complete with
the dental formula as well as the temporal mandibular joints. OPG services are provided on a
walk-in basis and recorded on a CD.
• Fluoroscopy machine - Fluoroscopy is the use of an x-ray system that allows the radiologist to view
x-ray images on a computer monitor over time. Simple examples include the motion of your lungs
and diaphragm when you breathe, or the motion of your joints or spine. We offer the same or next
day availability with highly trained and compassionate technologists who will assist you through the
procedure with ease and prompt reporting of results.
