THANKSGIVING BASKETS

When most people ponder the idea of Thanksgiving, the first thing to pop up in their head is food. Who’s cooking? What’s being cooked? However, this year here at Spring Valley, HOSA participants made an effort to pass on the spirit of giving by making Thanksgiving food baskets for all custodians, who truly make a difference in the safety and guidance of SV students. Included in the baskets were ingredients such as turkey, cut green beans, Jiffy cornbread mix, whole corn, brownie mix, a box of yellow cake mix ranging from Duncan, Betty Crocker, or Ghirardelli brands, whole berry cranberry sauce, white rice, Kraft mac-n-cheese, dry turkey gravy, and stovetop cornbread stuffing mix. Arranged carefully and wrapped to our liking, there was nothing more pleasant but to imagine how special we made them feel once delivered.

Sure enough, there were multiple positive responses given back to the HOSA team and even statements made such as “It’s nice to know, someone’s always thinking of you” or “You all have made my day!” We don’t think about it often but it is the little things that count. What seems like half a meal to most is a feast for that one person only a few feet away, and that’s what made it all worthwhile. One community coming together on acts of kindness.
