educational needs and disabilities.
Newstalk providing a talking newspaper service to the visually impaired
and those who find it difficult to read a newspaper.
Legacy Rainbow Trust providing rehabilitation, education and fun for
children and young people with neurological conditions such as cerebral
palsy or acquired brain injury caused by illness or accident.
Woodland Trust currently working on the Smithills Moor Estate near to
Horwich, adding to the woodland but also working with the local
agricultural community to improve access to the moors by creating and
maintaining footpaths and parking areas for the benefit of both locals
and visitors to the area.
Did you know that if you live in Horwich or know somebody who does and
are celebrating a significant birthday or anniversary you can request a visit
from the Town Mayor and Mayoress to mark the occasion?

A weekend festival of music hit the right notes with the people of Horwich
over three days in May at Horwich Community Centre on Beaumont Road.
The event was sponsored by Horwich Town Council and organised by a
small group of enthusiastic volunteers.
The Festival started with a meeting of the George Formby Society on the
Friday afternoon followed by a folk evening with musicians James Holt, Tori
Woof, Dave Peters and Matt Walklate. Saturday included performances from
Opus 1 Music Studios and the Bolton School Jazz Band, followed by a sell
out evening of classical performances by guitarist Jon Gjylaci supported by
Mike Walker plus acclaimed cello duo Cupid's Bow. The final day saw
performances by Rivington & Adlington Brass Band along with a trio of
choirs, attended by the Town Mayor and Mayoress straight after their Civic
Sunday Service, plus neighbouring mayoralty from Adlington, Blackrod and
Westhoughton.
The artists appreciated the enthusiasm of the audiences and the great
acoustics of the venue. Due to the success and fantastic support received,
the organising committee are planning to repeat the event next year.
STOP PRESS... next year's event has been provisionally booked for 5 / 6 / 7th May 2017
