Welcome to the PLA network and family! The Indianapolis School Board recently approved Louis
B. Russell Jr. School 48 to join our A-rated network beginning next school year. As we prepare to
begin this journey with you, we want you to know that our goal is to work together to ensure that
every scholar receives a positive and unique learning experience. Our parents are our strongest
partners in education, and we look forward to doing all that we can to support you in your
scholars' learning and growth.
The George and Veronica Phalen Leadership Academies (also known as PLA) is a non-profit
organization that partners with schools across the country. In each of our partner schools, there
is a strong commitment to our scholars and there is a strong commitment to you- our parents,
guardians and families.
Wherever we serve, our goal is consistent—improve the lives of children (whom we call
“scholars”). In each community, that may look different. It may be providing the resources to
create strong and effective learning environments; supporting and developing teachers with
tailored professional development; or helping to create a more positive school culture. Every
single day, we want to work with you to provide your scholar with the best education and life
possible.
