to Reach the

Unreached

By AL *, Director of OMS’ West Africa Missionary Movements
At only 17, Daniel * lived in an upsidedown world. As a member of the K * people, an unreached group in West Africa, he grew up in a community with little access to education, clean water, or healthcare. Drugs, girls, and violence ruled his daily life. His skills in gold extraction, relationships with radical friends from the neighboring religion, and his deep involvement with the world of darkness created a societal monster— he terrorized his people. Daniel easily gathered friends to join his gang, people who greatly respected and admired him and followed his every command.
In November 2024, an acquaintance invited Daniel to attend a Discovery Bible Study( DBS). At the end of the session, he gave his life to Christ as an expression of his obedience to the truths he had discovered. A few days later, he asked to be baptized. The news of his baptism went viral, and people rushed to his place for confirmation. That same night, Daniel led seven former gang members to Christ and started a DBS with them the next day.
As of December 2024, Daniel had increased the DBS group to 16 members, all of whom were baptized. We invited him to join the Equipping Center for Frontier Missions, which was launched to empower emerging leaders just like Daniel. He joined and told the group,
“ Men, I was evil, but Jesus has transformed my life. Thank you for making biblical truths this easy to understand. I was initially wired for evil, but now, I’ ll use that same energy to make sure my people stop being mentioned among the least reached in this country.”
Pray with us for the 14 leaders we are currently training, who all have stories similar to Daniel’ s. They represent the first fruits of what the Lord will do among this currently unreached people group.
Pray for provision as we trust the Lord for resources to launch an access and compassion ministry to back up the work on the ground. The literacy rate among the K people is below 5 percent, access to potable water is a nightmare, and simple health facilities are as rare as gold.
The government is working hard to boost the economy after 10 years of civil war. Let’ s pray that the K people will also benefit from this global effort. Additionally, we look forward to launching a vocational training center for young women, offering them a chance at a future beyond underage marriage, which is currently their only option in life. This is just one step in a movement that can change the trajectory of the K people.
