The process of booking Fountain Square as the venue
was simple. She simply filled out an application and
contacted the wedding coordinator. She described the
atmosphere as historical. Fountain Square’s ballroom has
tall, stenciled ceilings, as well as carpeting. The kitchen,
dance floor, as well as views of the courthouse and the
square. The ballroom housed one hundred guests out
of its one hundred and fifty people capacity. Fountain
square enables hosts to choose their own caterers. Darcy
went with local favorite Sugar Daddies catering. Her
friend Kyle Chambers was the DJ.
The ceremony, a lush campus wedding at Rosewill
House, was themed boho chic and rose gold. Seven
bridesmaids, consisting of her sisters and best friends,
sported different dresses in different colors. A “cohesive
vintage look” was the intention.
For Darcy and her now husband Aaron’s first date, they
attended wine and canvas for a fun, casual and easy date
since they already were so familiar with each other. The
proposal took place at the baby shower, and luckily was
caught on video. Darcy was unwrapping her gifts, when
her friend mentioned that she had forgotten one of them.
It was a big box with a card with Aaron’s promise to
spend his future with Darcy and their baby with the ring
in the box. Aaron’s brother sang “Can’t Help Falling In
Love” while they danced.
Darcy prioritizes communication in her marriage: “you
both have to be on the same level.” Darcy characterizes
herself as a “girly girl” but participates in a “glamping”
get together every year centered around a float trip
down current river Missouri and spanning 3-4 days with
fifty other participants.
Fountain Square is a larger venue than meets the eye.
The lower level at Fountain Square offers an intimate
space with an indoor fountain for smaller sized weddings.
According to their website, an exclusive package can
be purchased including both the ballroom and the
fountain on the lower level to host both a wedding and
reception. This setup optimizes convenience: “the split
level spaces keep guests engaged and encourage more
socialization and interaction by moving level to level.”
The package also includes use of digital screens in the
Atriums. Fountain Square is an ideal venue for any couple
looking to implement an elegant or historical twist in their
celebration. wg
