4 - PRESIDENT - September / October 2013 - PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Craig Erickson As I sit to write this message it’s near the end of August and 90° outside, kind of hard to think about snowmobiling at this time when I would rather be fishing somewhere. Anyways here goes nothing. During our June meeting the election of officers was held, I was elected president and Nate Miller is vice-president. Ruth Ann Miller has agreed to continue on as Secretary-Treasurer. Len, Thank You for all your years of leadership, service and dedication as president guiding the ISA. And Dorthy, THANK YOU!!! This past June the International Snowmobile Conference (ISC) was held in Green Bay, WI. Len, Dan Blaney and I attended this three day event. As this was my first time to the ISC I wasn’t sure what to expect. From meetings about the ongoing legal issue of snowmobiling in National Forests, to break out sessions discussing various topics such as websites, media, legislation, forming youth groups and club memberships. One evening were treated to a dinner at Lambeau Field, which is one impressive place. If you’re ever in the area you need to check out the Packers Hall of Fame. Next year’s ISC meeting is going to be in Keystone, Colorado June 12 to 15, 2014. The Hoosier Outdoor Experience (HOE) at Fort Harrison State Park, Indianapolis, IN is coming up soon, Sept 21 & 22 (hours 10 am to 6 pm). If you haven’t went before this is one of those great, fun family events that you need to do. There are many activities to try from canoeing, fishing, horseback riding, archery, gold panning, and many, many more. To see more of the activities click on this link HOE Events. The best part is it’s all free. The Winter Expo will be held December 7th & 8th at the Porter County Fair Grounds & Exposition Center. Snowmobile safety course is on Saturday.
