ACTION CRAFT
1720 ACE
The 1720 ACE is a fisherman ’ s dream for flexibility and versatility , and is the logical choice for the light-tackle and fly-casting specialist . The 1720 has a radical , racy , chine line , which is the signature of the exclusive Qui-Dry ® Hull . While there are some flats boats that may keep you relatively dry in rough water , and some that are surprisingly quiet when stalking fish , very few can actually do both .
The 1720 ’ s hull design incorporates a transitional chine at the bow water line , allowing an increased angle for water to roll off the hull , rather than slap . This reduces the noise that spooks fish . A built-in spray rail above the water ¬¬ line , and their modified running strakes on the bottom of the hull , decrease the wetted surface of the boat . This feature directs water away in a manner that produces a sheet , rather than a spray , of water . This yields a much dryer and more comfortable ride when running through choppy coastal waters , yet the boat is remarkably dry when running fast in a heavy chop .
A narrow console gives plenty of cockpit room and wide 13 ” wide gunwales provide for easy walk-around and loads of rod storage underneath .
A bench seat with a flip-down backrest is standard , and there is dry storage underneath for two trolling motor batteries , tackle boxes , and whatever other items you may need to keep safe from the elements . The live well has recessed fittings , which helps keep bait alive and frisky . The 1720 is ideal for anglers who want a compact , easily trailered boat of the finest quality .
Some hardcore flats anglers are aware they can get a smoother , faster ride from a modified-V hull , but they have refused to give up the one huge advantage a flat bottom provides : shallow draft . Now they don ’ t have to . Action Craft ’ s Pocket Drive is the
