HAPPY NEW YEAR , HOOKED UP FAMILY !
Well , we made it through our first year together , and it ’ s been a real pleasure providing you with another tool in your quest for absolute fishing and boating knowledge .
We ’ re starting this year off with the usual high expectations for many great things to come , but also with a bevy of wintertime fishing tips and how-tos . Yes , I said wintertime . Step outside and you may want to consult your calendar . This was the first Christmas in my long life where I can remember sweating from simply shucking oysters .
Even though it ’ s unusually toasty here in Florida , that doesn ’ t make these literary offerings are any less relevant . The water is still chilly and the fish do what they are supposed to do – they merely do it on an adjusted schedule .
This issue ’ s wintertime how-tos cover everything from deep-lake trolling for tasty crappie with our wandering Joe Piscus , to slow-twitching topwater lures for lumbering redfish as they graze the shallow bars in the afternoon sun .
