Changing of the Seasons (Spring to Summer) By: Jacob Kromberg F rom the hiking trails to the sky boxes, the canoe paths to the winding rivers, the beautiful woodland to the lake’s stunning re- flection of nature, spring was in full bloom here on the spiritual and bliss- ful side of our community. Days are filled with people talking and laugh- ing with one another sitting under the shining sun and clear skies. The sound of happiness is all around. The temperature begins to rise with the warmth of the sun while nights still have a hint of cool air. Birds such as Robins and Orioles begin to appear from the distance coming north from their southern nesting places. Bird feeders and bird baths are filled to the delight of these friendly crea- tures. We begin to hear birds sing and frogs croak. Squirrels are out frolicking in the trees climbing from one to another sometimes over pow- er lines to reach their destination. Horses graze the land and run free letting the wind flow through their manes. Deer can be found with their new babies in open fields looking for a bite to eat. Farmers can be seen planting their crops. Buds begin to form on the trees while the grass be- gins to green. April showers bring May flowers as tulips, cherry blos- soms, orchids, and other beautiful plants blossom. As spring continues to sur- round us, summer is just around the corner. Warmer weather is on the horizon. Buds begin to open showing us the full beauty of the trees and bushes. Flowers will continue to blos- som and grass will grow higher. Summer itself is in full bloom. Lawn mowers begin to roar cutting the long, green grass. Trees no longer have stick branches, but full and alive with leaves. Children are out playing in the yard, running through sprinklers. Families are enjoying the outdoors with barbecues and picnics at the lake. Motor boats are in the water, cruising along the lakes with family and friends enjoying their time with each other. Laughter is heard all around. Summer brings families and friends together to cheer on their children at sporting events such as soccer, baseball, and softball. The kids take water breaks due to the heat. Proud parents and grandparents are sitting on the sidelines in their chairs watch- ing the kids have fun. They are there for support no matter what the end outcome is. There is the smell of hot dogs and hamburgers all around at the concession stands, candy bars and suckers for dessert. Summer engulfs each and every one daily. Memories are made to never be forgotten. 14
