It leaves off in the attraction phase between the two lovers . Disney ’ s Sleeping Beauty neglects to show the attachment side to the relationship , mainly because the attachment phase starts to take place after a long period of time , which occurs when oxytocin and vasopressin have been released . The romance tends to skip over any real conversation and the focus tends to be more on the moment of just being together , this shows that the relationship is still in the attraction phase .
Probing more into the prince ’ s actions , he is experiencing eros . The article , “ Philosophy of love ” by Alexander Moseley touches on platonic love . Eros is love in the sense of passion and sexual desire . The prince is intensely admiring Aurora ’ s beauty ( some might find him a creeper ). Looking at platonic love or eros , the love specifically is a reflection of the ideal beauty itself . In this case , platonic love does not need to be reciprocated by any means , sense it is an appreciation of the beauty ( Moseley 2,3 ). As we can see in this scene of the movie , Aurora does not reciprocate the platonic love that the prince is experiencing . Although it doesn ’ t necessarily have to be with a specific individual , but in this scene the prince loves the element of the true ( ideal ) beauty of Aurora .
Looking at this in the phenomenological analysis , the in-itself is what the culture says that being in love looks like . In this case the culture that Disney cultivates , in Sleeping Beauty , is meeting someone and without singing more than a few words , you simultaneously fall in love with one another . In this case , the characters do not have to think about how to act after that because the culture has already defined that for them . They of course , are infatuated with each other and see one another with blinders , as they believe their significant other can do no wrong in their eyes . Through the watching of Sleeping Beauty , the audience starts to desire this kind of in-itself that is being displayed . In the article , “ Jean Paul Sartre : Existentialism ” by Christian Onof , desire is explained in two ways : being and having . The being is geared toward the self and the having is geared toward possession . In this case the being would be being in love and the having would be having possession of someone to be physiologically attracted to ( Onof 12 ).
Expanding on the previous scene from Sleeping Beauty , when the prince jumps out from the bushes to sing along with Aurora , she is a frightened . She then starts to pull away as he tries to hold her hand . She pulls away a total of four times and starts to walk away from him . She even hides behind a tree . However , each time he continues to grab her hand again and again , eventually she doesn ’ t pull away and then they start to dance .
