The Figure
As the image came to life, it
began to incorporate more
elements within the room. One
such element was a person was
born into thought in the midst of
this environment, standing at a
staggering height of one inch tall.
The person has lost the sublime
feeling of grandeur and beauty
and adopted the monotone
coloring of the room inside. The
person was placed just out of
reach of the light pouring in from
the doorway- this was used to
visually represent to the viewer
that we always wish for happiness
and light but are constantly tied
up by the list of duties and
milestones that society depicts
must be completed first. The light
would slowly creep away from the
person, who turned their back on
the doorway, until there was no
natural light inside the room. As
the artist, we wished to
demonstrate through this that the
person stood in a room full of
unattainable social expectations
of which no one can ever truly
attain and retain their happiness.
As time went on, the person
can be seen staring around at the
calendar on the ground, making
up the floor, and the to do list
covering the walls, shrinking
further still. In comparison to the
