However, most Japanese are quite tolerant to any religion and regardless of what religion they might practise, a western wedding ceremony is popularly held in a church, a hotel or a wedding hall. A large number of couples have a mixture of Japanese traditional and western style in the wedding ceremony. What it means is that if a couple have a Japanese traditional style in the actual wedding ceremony, they will choose to wear western wedding gowns in their reception. The bride will usually change costume two or three times at least as well as the glom to match his bride in the reception party. The bride usually likes to change into a gorgeous colourful kimono and a white wedding gown and cocktail dress like a princess. The actual wedding ceremony in a Japanese traditional way takes place in a Shintoism shrine ( less cases but in also a Buddhism temple). As you see the bride wears a totally white kimono with her head covered with a kind of big hood or a sash covering some parts of hair ( a wig is worn in modern times) in the ceremony.
