He raised the smould’ring torch in hand,
He cried aloud, “ Ahoy!”
The pirates then no mercy gave—
Struck down the cabin boy.
Not one, that day, shall e’er forget
Who gave for them his life,
The cabin boy so sad and bleak,
Whose flames o’ercame the strife.
