The New Tales of Old Shanghai
Discovery Mind Primary School, Bhuiyan, Zayan – 10
Eat delicious ha gao,
Wear a beautiful Qi Pao,
Which is red and gold,
The favourite colours of old.
Now the shiny cars zoom,
As big crowds bloom,
The humongous auto-boats swim,
People are really slim.
The Yangtze river roared,
As the bold British explored,
Shanghai was a fishing village so small,
The buildings weren’t that tall.
Now the city’s expanded,
23 million people, standard,
The buildings are tall,
Making mountains look small.
