History Would Never Lie

The city of old Shanghai,
Built to prevent, but more to die.
They didn't know why, oh why,
But the city is about to cry.
Behind the moat, Behind the walls,
No one knows the city's crawl.
Behind the walls, where the people bawl,
The situation's worse overall.
Later invaded by France and Britain,
A page of history will be written.
The Qing Empire Overridden,
The city ends up to be given.
The history of old Shanghai,
Couldn't be happy if they tried.
Even when the city cries
Its history would never lie.
