Awe grasped tightly at my ankles, refusing to let me walk,
My eyes re-reading the sign again and again.
The modern taxi collected me, as if picking up a drink at the store.
The city whirled past me as I sat in silence,
Absorbing all the feelings, the people, the happiness, the place had to offer.
City lights hummed along to the brightness and joy in the Bay Area,
As if beaming proudly upon its citizens,
and the activity it contained.
The night sky gazed at me intently,
The trees nodded their heads vigorously, in agreement to the question that nagged my mind.
“Was all of this real?”
Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock,
The clock struck 7:00 pm.
I arrived at the doorstep of my new home,
A deluxe apartment facing the crystal blue waters,
As a certain doubt of penumbra crept over me.
Just as I opened the door to my house,
The benign neighbors greeted me with green tea and a polite smile, their hands ferociously typing away on
their phones every few minutes,
Eyes glued to the lighted screen, now a part of their modern world.
I walked to the balcony peering over the edge of the city,
Feeling a bit giddy.
I stared at the landscape as the dark sky,
Remained a blanket in which the stars illuminated opportunities,
scattered across the Greater Bay Area like a spectrum.
I took a minute to gather my thoughts as every now and then,
Where millions of vehicles would park downstairs,
blaring a binding light in the darkness,
reflecting my feelings towards the once ambiguity of a place,
but possessed a charm that lured me,
to feel a searing passion in my heart for this realm of success,
Such a realm that held my future in its hands.
A place where nature and industrialization work together,
A place where technology and communities interact,
A place where studies and future endeavors link hands,
A point where ecstasy and a passion to enjoy life meet.
A pulsating cluster and utopia of sorts.
From Stunning skyline scenery,
To orgiastic casinos for tourists,
To lip-smacking Cantonese food,
To Kung Fu lessons facing the vast waters,
