Since China has started to open its door to the world and reform its economy in 1978, the GDP growth has
reached almost 10 percent a year, allowing more than 850 million people to get rid of poverty. Today,
China is an upper-middle-income country and the world’s second largest economy. Now it is ready for
further and more advanced developments, an Greater Bay Area is one of the ambitious plans that China has
in mind.
Greater Bay Area Project is never an one-off programme but a long term cooperation between different
cities of China, aiming at promoting its growing and dynamic commerce and potentials to the world. After
the announcement of the plan, Greater Bay Area (GBA) has become a hot topic for worldwide citizens, as
well as businessmen.
Greater Bay Area includes two special Administrative Regions- Hong Kong Government and Marco
Government and nine districts of Zhuhai ,Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhaoqing, Dongguan, Zhongshan,
Jiangmen, Huizhou and Foshan in Guangdong Province. According to "People's Daily", with the strong
leadership of the Chinese government and the significant advantages of the social system, the Chinese
economy will surely on the high-quality developing track. Some people believe that the Greater Bay Area
Project uplifts the importance of China in the global economy.
There are policies helping the GBA to commit to promoting development of a quality living circle for
living, working and travelling. The Greater Bay Area is connected to the area with the Hong Kong-
Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Citizens living in the Greater Bay Area can travel to the vicinity of the Greater Bay
Area through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and they can also visit the International Finance
Center, Hong Kong, to carry out investment projects. The High-Speed Rail can reach the entire China, so
it is a convenient transport for businessmen to work and citizens to enjoy their life, and thus increase their
mobility, making good use of time and human resources.
Moreover, GBA is showing its geographical advantages for developing a quality living circle for living,
working and travelling. Greater Bay Area includes the key structures of transportation to develop the quality
of living, working and travelling, for example, Hong Kong Section of the XRL, HZMB (Hong Kong-
Zhuhai-Macao Bridge) and Nansha Bridge allow people from these places to travel to the whole China in a
more convenient and shorter distance which helps to promote trade and exchange ideas of talented minds.
Learning from the past, the Chinese government has set its path for laying down the promising development
of science and technology. Nowadays, people are focusing on a brand new topic, STEM. The word means
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Fortunately, In the Greater Bay Area, there are lots of
learning programs and working projects for citizens who live there to learn something technical and skillful,
so they will have a chance to partake the "Greater" project, sharing their experience and benefits.
In addition, the plan also includes creating Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park and
publishing Smart City Blueprint. The Greater Bay Area is a well-planned area where the Chinese
Government has strengthened the development of science and technology in eight ways: increasing research
and development resources, pooling scientific and technological talents, providing venture capital, providing
scientific research infrastructure, reviewing existing laws and regulations, opening government data,
changing procurement systems and strengthening science education. The amount of money involved is
indeed more than $100 billion dollars. Moreover, an Internal Innovation and Technology (I&T) Hub is the
vital facility that cannot be missed out. Innovation and technology is the development which focus of
Greater Bay Area, by supporting and strengthening I&T cooperation, developing international platforms,
Greater Bay Area position is the best place to develop science and STEM with those excellent facilities.
The third dream of Greater Bay Area is the joint developing Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao cooperation
platforms, before the development of the Great Bay Area, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was designed
by Hong Kong Government, Macao Government and the Chinese Government. The bridge opens the road
from mainland China to Hong Kong. After developing Greater Bay Area, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao
Bridge will surely become the fantastic facility to join Hong Kong and mainland China. Thus, the Greater
