You must visit Senado square (which is a stunning symbol of East meets West heritage), and the Ruins of St Paul’s. Also, did you know that one of the world’s most endangered languages is found here which is Patua? This is an interesting blend of Cantonese and Portuguese - due to the fact that it used to be a Portuguese colony. As of the year 2000, there were only 50 speakers left worldwide! Did you know that Macau was Europe’s first and last colony in China? Economy Macau surprisingly has its own currency called Patacas and it is the second richest territory in the world with zero public debt. This remarkable region is the most successful gaming capital with its casinos raking in 80% of its economy. Due to this amazing economic profit, the government gives every local resident 9,000 patacas a year. It depends on mainland China for most of its food, fresh water and goods. Entertainment Macau has developed many amusements over the past years including the DreamWorks experience, The House of Dancing Water and many other fun areas. People from all around the world go to Macau to gamble. Casinos in Macau roll in 3 times more money than Vegas does, and they own the largest casino in the world. Also, did you know that Macau holds the highest bungee jump ever? Jumpers leap from a platform 233m above ground level and experience the ultimate bungee jump! China’s ambitious creativity to form a bay area to rival those in San Francisco, New York and Tokyo, is devised to advance the economy. It would develop the latest technology to deliver around the planet and some say it would attempt to challenge Silicon Valley (home to the enterprises Google, eBay, Apple and Facebook). The GBA would utilise high tech transport, transferring many people from city to city around the Bay Area. It is rich in resources, culture and also beautiful to look at. Hong Kong, Macau and southern China already attract many tourists for their stunning scenery, so the GBA is already wealthy because of tourism. Business companies may be interested to develop and locate their workers to this area, as it is close to the sea so it’s easy to ship goods.
