While “STEM” (science, technology, engineering and maths) education has become a focal
point for educators and parents, more and more people are talking about “STEAM”, STEM
plus the arts. The “A” in STEAM represents a broad term covering liberal arts, language arts,
fine arts and music etc.
The community concerns about the whole person development of our younger generation
and notice the importance of combining science and arts in their education. We are glad
that the Hong Kong Young Writer Awards provides a fertile ground for young people to
unleash their creativity and ideas. Congratulations to all the winners. I believe we will see a
