The Old Shanghai

new born baby just came to the world.” It came from a small fishing village near the muddy Huang Pu
river…… The born baby is called Shanghai. Concession started by the British and say that it is okay to set
territory in shanghai but the concession were occupying and were untouchable by Chinese. But the….
the….. French, Americans and Japanese ignore the Chinese and followed the British to set territories in Shanghai. And the Chinese
cannot not do anything about it.
Shanghai had become the most important port in 1930s Asia and the world’s largest, most amazing trading and baking fir ms
had set up house alone the bund. In 1840 there isn't much territory in the bund, it was the center of the external trade, it is a very
important place because there is a trading center so that shanghai can have stuff export and import from the nearby country. Shanghai
imported Europeans’ and Americans’ tea, silk , and porcelain and was paid for super cheap prices. Sadly some countries started the
world War ll. Many countries closed their doors but still lead up to the second World War. Over 20,000 Jewish refugees found in
Shanghai and created a…. a…. huge settlement in the district.
As the “kid” still growing, the Japanese invaded and frantically bombed shanghai into a place like “bee hives”, which
totally destroy shanghai. The foreigners who could evacuated are extremely lucky but that is only a very small portion of people that
evacuated and all those people like young little kids or high aged people were not able to escape, they have to protect on their own
because bomb don't have eyes to avoid them. The Jewish people were forbidden to leave their District area, so they have to suffer the
bombing until its done, even though Japanese were allies of Germany but didn't harbor the same feelings towards to group. After the
bombing, Japanese controlled shanghai and much of China’s eastern coast until they are defeated. So shanghai ended up have German
territory and Japan territory
During 1943 most of the allied governments abandoned Shanghai dur ing the war which lead shanghai alone, fighting and sign their
territorial concessions over to Chiang Kai - Shek. By 1949
Mao’s communists had defeated Chiang Kai- Shek’s the nationalist of KMT government which the government break out and
flew to Taiwan. Most of the foreigner have left Shanghai and Mao’s communist stay takes control of the city and all privately held
businesses.
In the early ages shanghai is like the “rebellion kid”, fought for a long time but then starting to be “more mature”, in 1976 Deng
Xiao ping open the door to allowed a commercial revival to take places in Shanghai .
Pudong was mainly for farming in the old ages, but as it is developing to a “more mature kid”, it become come up with warehouses
and wharfs near the shore administered by the districts of Puxi on the west bank. There is another small city called Chuansha that is
also in Pudong area, but later in the years Pudong and Chuansha was merged together and it came out with a new
