The people of Shanghai rejoiced, for they were saved. I stood near the wall and watched their celebration. A voice coming from the wall whispered to me, “Well done, I hope you’ve learned your lesson.” “I have,” I replied as the edges of the world began to grow fuzzy until my eyelids felt heavy and everything went black. “It’s time to wake up now,” a clap on my shoulder woke me up immediately. My roommate had already gotten dressed and I was lying in a hotel bed. “Hurry up. We’re visiting the city wall of Old Shanghai today!” I felt the slightest twinge of disappointment once I realised it was a dream. “Or is it?” a whisper came from nowhere.
