The Sergeant went to the front of the crowd and with his booming voice ordered the Generals to let the families reunite once more. The soldiers were posted so that it was impossible for anyone to escape, the chains were then unlocked and the mothers ran to scoop up there shivering frightened children. Maya and Eleanor ran to each other like their lives depended on it and they hugged. They hugged each other so hard they could barely breath. Eleanor buried her face into her mother’s shoulder and cried. The two stood there in silence while tears of quiet relief ran down their faces. In each other's arms, they were finally safe, for now.
