“ What a roadhog !” father exclaimed , before disappearing into his small stall , glancing at uncle Li as he wept silently . As we retire into the comfort of the food stall , I noticed night had already enveloped the sky , with its twinkling blanket of stars competing for attention against the flashing neon signs .
The very next day , as I wake up , I see father handling a small bundle of cloth in his hands . As I walk outside , bathed by the warm morning light , father stands up , before he thrusts a clean white apron into my open arms . Surprised , I look up at him , as he slowly slides up his glasses and looks at the glistening skyscrapers near
the Waitan .
“ I know I haven ’ t gotten much ,” Father says with great difficulty “ but I need your help , son . Wujiang Lu may be no more someday , but I ’ ll still have you , even if we have to move away again and again .”
“ Don ’ t worry father . I ’ ll stay with you no matter what .” I say happily , my emotions overcoming me as I hug father gently while the rosy morning horizon spreads it color over the skyline of Shanghai , gently shining on Wujiang Lu , and the rest of Old Shanghai .

“ So , how was your trip to Shanghai , Lucy ?” I asked curiously , Lucy has just recently came back home from an extraordinary trip to Shanghai and I am eager to hear about it .
“ Well … I have a lot to tell , so sit tight and listen closely !” she began …
During the first day of her trip , Lucy arrived at a hotel , which seemed rather old and … perhaps scary too . Be she was too tired to even judge the hotel ’ looks , she quickly checked into a room and fell asleep . Not long later , she was woken by a sound of knocking at the door . Lucy wearily got up to check who was knocking at the door , “ hello ?” she called out , as she opened the door . No answer , “ Hello ?” she called out louder this time . But still no one answered Must be some kids messing around … she thought , and shrugged it off .
A few days into her trip , Lucy had overheard some people talking about the hotel being haunted , “ I heard , that someone died here , and that person ’ s soul is trapped in this hotel !” A trapped soul ? I guess that explains all the paranormal activity that has been happening to me lately … She thought , during the past few days , Lucy has seen some strange things happening , for example , saw the door slam shut by itself , taps turning on and off , chairs moving into different places while she wasn ’ t looking … I better leave this place as soon as possible ! Lucy thought to herself .
