He pulls the rickshaw to a stop and turns towards me , holding his hand out . I take his hand and step out . The wind brushes my skin as leaves fall from the green trees . I feel at one with nature as the birds chirped on the trees , the wind , flowing like waves in the ocean . There ’ s something calming about standing here , in a dream like world or trance . I ’ ve always wanted to know what it felt like to live in the past , and now , i ’ m experiencing it right before my very eyes . The rickshaws , the buildings , the stalls , the people everything here is what I dreamed it to be . There ’ s people looking at me , standing on this gargantuan hill , looking like i ’ m going to suicide , but I embrace it , this isn ’ t something you experience everyday . It was sunset . I watched with an unwavering gaze , as a fiery red orb of light slowly sank beneath the horizon , and threads of light lingered in the sky , mingling with the rolling clouds , dyeing the heavens first orange , then red , then dark blue , until all that was left of the sunset was a chalky mauve . The rickshaw approaches me nonchalantly , his smile filled with content , and his hazel eyes blinking ever so brightly . “ We need to go now , look down ” I take a peek over the hill , and I see this great black hole lying below me , I peak over the edge similar to how a dog sticks his head through a car window , far enough to see what ’ s going on , but not so far as to fall of . “ Are you ready ?” I question him . “ Ready to go ? Because it ’ s sunset and we must leave now ” He escorts me to the edge of the cliff . “ Now jump ”
“ I ’ m sorry but my magic can only last so long , every good thing comes to an end and now , your story has come to an end .” I sigh , my breath , heavy with sorrow but happiness . Afterall , what makes the tunnel is the light at the end . The wind creeps its way up my nose and the whole city flashes to life as if it ’ s giving me a goodbye memory . A smile creeps up my face as I get ready to jump , the rocks crumble under my weight as they fall down into the strange black abyss . I grab the rickshaws hand and tell him how honoured I am and I will be forever in his debt . He smiles , the biggest brightest smile I ’ ve ever seen , it ’ s almost as if he ’ s laughing but without sound . And he pushes me of the ledge . The cold air rushed past as I accelerated faster and faster . Then after a time I felt like I was floating and not falling at all . But the trees on the ground were getting larger and closer and closer . My eyes shut , breath locked , muscles tensed and wait for the inevitable . Then impact . I feel my bones being crushed under the pressure of the fall , as if they were sinking into the floor . My skin feeling pressured by multiple layers above my body . Without looking , I move my body , contrary to my belief , I ’ m met with the silky smooth sheets of the bed and the fluffy blanket that I always slept in . I open my eyes to find myself in bed , I open the curtains and take a glance out the window . I stretch up my hand to the sky . The soft amber glow of the sunrise pour through my fingers and onto my face . The sun itself had barely risen and the city had the subdued quiet of dawn . Someone knocks the door “ Jaydock are you okay in there ?” I call back answering I ’ m fine . I remember I have my history test today . Good thing I had preperation .
