“ One way to be sure Zhang . You two lift him up by his arms ,” Lee demanded . Zhang and Wei grabbed the man and pulled him up as if he were sitting upright . Lee unbuttoned his jumpsuit , Lee touched his chest , and found the veins in that area were stiff . He continued to undress the top half of the man ' s body and finding a trident symbol carved into his back . Lee looked up with a sigh .
“ He is diverging from the pattern ,” Lee said with curiosity . “ Is it possible it ' s a copycat attack ?” Zhang asked .
“ People only found out about this today . Collecting all the necessary materials needed to do this would take time . Time someone who just gained interest would not have , Only the murder could do this one ."
“ I ’ ll give you the file when we ' re done here , but right now you need to go . The press looking right at us ,” Zhang explained .
Lee fell back in his chair , his hands together against his face as he looked at his newly decorated wall of dead people . “ Li Xiu Ying , Liu Min , and Wang Qiang ,” Lee said as he pointed to each picture . “ All of them died the same way . Before Wang Jun died the only other connection was that they were rich men ." “ But the pattern changes . Why ?” Wei asked . “ I do not know ." As Lee spoke there was a knock at the door . “ Well , maybe she will know ,” Lee sighed as he opened the door to Madam Chen . “ When did you call her ?” Wei asked . “ This morning while you were out . I needed more information . Now please , Madam ; come in ,” Lee answered . “ Madam Chen do you recognize any of these men ?” Lee asked . “ Yes , they all used to work at the Harbor Company with my husband ,” Madam Chen answered .
“ That ' s where I know you from , Mr . Wei . You used to be a laborer who worked there . Your wife was my florist she would bring me the most beautiful flowers ."
“ Are you ready to tell us why someone would want to hurt your husband ?” Lee asked .
“ My husband did something bad with his associates . He burned one of his ships to collect the insurance when the company was near bankruptcy . Sadly it also burned a passenger ship destroying the company . After that they all split up ,” Madam Chen explained .
Lee turned to Wei . “ That was the accident that injured and eventually killed your wife .” Lee stood up and began to walk towards Wei .
“ The dates of your wife ’ s injury and death align with the murders of the four people responsible for her death . Digoxin , the chemical that was used to kill these men was from the flower foxglove . Foxglove ! The very plant I found on her grave today while you were out presumably mourning . Her grave is just a short walk away from here not five hours away . Five hours gives you enough time to visit your wife ' s grave and kill the most recent victim ."
“ Are you accusing me of murder ?” Wei said in an offended tone .
“ No , murders . The trident symbol carved into their backs was the logo of the Harbor Company you used to work for . It was a calling card used to strike fear into the coming victims and yet none of them noticed , except for me ."
“ This is outrageous ,” Wei said as he slowly walked towards the door . “ Zhang !” Lee yelled and , Zhang burst through the door to grab Wei .
“ While you were out for those five hours my suspicions were getting to me . I went to your wife ' s old workplace and found these ."
Lee then revealed a couple of syringes and a rag that didn ’ t look suspicious but smelled awful .
“ Chloroform on this rag and syringes used to inject the Digoxin . Officer Zhang , please arrest Wei . I have the evidence but yet no motive . Hence why Madam Chen is here to confirm my suspicions to me , Zhang , and his superior officer ."
