A Futuristic Adventure in Tech City
Creative Primary School, Chan, Serena - 10
The sun was shining gloriously in the blue morning sky. I was strolling merrily on the streets, enjoying the
grandeur of the beach near me. There were Chinese White Dolphins flying in and out of the boundless sea,
people walking along the sandy shores in Zhuhai and amazing massive skyscrapers in the clouds. Then, I
went to ICC Sky 100 Tower, grabbed a sandwich from my backpack and started munching on it. I could
see the whole city from this 393-meter-high tower. What a spectacular sight! With a grin, I thought,
“How could things get any better?”
“Ring! Ring!” My phone suddenly went off.
I realized it was my boss, Mr. Penny.
He told me in an anxious tone, “Adventurous Eagle, this is an urgent matter! Come back to our
headquarters now!”
His worrying voice stirred my curiosity as to what was happening. I hopped into my super mobile
and sped off towards the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. I arrived at our headquarters in less than five
minutes. Mr. Penny was already there waiting for me impatiently.
He started talking, “Adventurous Eagle, because you’re a superhero, I’m assigning you to this most
important and dangerous mission.”
I didn’t reply so he continued talking, “There's a villain called “Death Killer” and he intends to
terrorize Tech City, a futuristic place in our future. Your mission is to teleport there to find out what
trouble he will be causing. But I have to warn you that you must not be seen or else things could get nasty.”
I gulped as he finished. But somehow the cat got my tongue and words of reluctance didn’t make
their way out. So, I said, “Yes, boss. I'll try my best.”
He smiled at me and said, “Good. You can teleport there now but be careful!”
I took a deep breath, pressed on my teleportation button and watched as Mr. Penny disappeared
out of sight.
When I arrived in Tech City, I gasped. In front of me were robots, automatic cars on the roads and
cameras in the sky! “No wonder it's called Tech City!” I thought. Then I decided to find out what other
high tech things there were in other areas.
First, I went to Zhu Hai. I was eager to see all the cool things there but I didn’t expect to see the
trouble on the Hong Kong-Zhu Hai-Macau Bridge! It was broken in half and cars were falling into the
ocean with people running about in pandemonium, screaming and hollering out for help. “What has
happened?” I wondered in disbelief.
Then, when I arrived in Shenzhen, I was dumbfounded to see the automatic cars going in different
directions and crashing against one other! I also discovered that people could no longer use their phones for
payments.
Afterwards, I went to Macau and saw chaos in the casinos which were supposed to be operated by
non-humans. People were complaining about not getting paid for their winnings. Also, the food was
supposed to be cooked by the robots for the buffets and restaurants except I was shocked to find the
customers starving because the robots were not functioning at all.
Finally, I went to Hong Kong and found that the control tower at the Hong Kong International
Airport and the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal were not working properly either. The tourists were unhappy and
very worried. Just then, I heard a lot of noise coming from behind me. I turned and saw a tall, skinny man
with dark sunglasses and a brown coat obliterating an airplane. He wore an evil smile on his hideous pothole
