prosperity and opportunity. The calm, placid, gentle waters of the bay licked the edge of the quay, its clear blue water reflecting the clouds playfully pursuing each other across the sky. I’m awoken from my reminiscence by a thunder of footsteps. It was my grandchildren, arriving for their weekly visit. I smiled warmly at the thought of their safety, their opportunities, their dreams fulfilled…not for them the horrors of war, the life of a refugee, the terror of impending doom and disaster. We live here now, in this welcoming land, safe from guns, safe from fighting, safe from death.
