lot of new office areas. I could see the huge difference between now and the old city before this area was created. Despite the tall buildings, the farming areas were nowhere to be seen. I carried all my belongings and went to the new housing areas. There were people that did not come back because they could not afford living in the city. I took out the card that the government officials had offered me and opened my assigned apartment. My new house was clean and furnished. It looked better than my old house, but I still preferred my old cozy and warm house better. There were several elements of Macau, Hong Kong, and mainland China. The apartment was very small but had a ‘Cantonese’ style. After leaving all of my luggage, I went to the food street. There were so many more food and snacks options than before. The streets were designed in an old fashioned way, with all the memories of Southern China, Hong Kong, and Macau. As I walked on the streets with snacks in my hands, I saw many people dressed in formal suits and dresses. They were the ones that came from other countries that had very high status. The businessmen had come here for better business opportunity. Unsurprisingly, Cantonese was the main language in Wong. However, English was more frequently used in business. Many characteristics in Wong were changed to suit the majority, which quite upset me, because I missed Guangzhou’s special features. Tomorrow is going to be a new year and a new start for this city, Wong. The city is full with New Year’s celebration posters. Now, I am looking forward the life in this city. I was sure life was going to be more entertaining and excited!!
