Greater Bay Area in Primary Four’s Eyes
A.D. & F.D. of Pok Oi Hospital Mrs Cheng Yam On School, Fu, Pui Yi
Hi, my name is Jenna Fu being a Primary four at Mrs Cheng Yam On School in Hong Kong. My pretty
and graceful cousin Jade Pak aged 11 lives in Macao, being in Form One next academic year. My adorable
brother Matt Fu enjoys his school life with my uncle in GuangZhou. We live in different regions of Greater
Bay Area, often chatting by Wechat.
“Chinese New Year is coming, Yippee! Jade said.
Matt asked excitedly “Wah, are we going to have a gathering at Guangzhou this year?”
“Really, Dad didn’t tell me that “Matt suspected.
“Mum said we would take the bus to Hong Kong to join Jenna’s family first. The journey from Macao to
Hong Kong across Hong Kong - ZhuHai - Macao Bridge only takes about 40 minutes. That’s much better
than taking a ferry!” Jade said with proud.
“And, we can meet your family at Hong Kong West Kowloon station. The traffic system in Greater Bay
Area is so well organized and developed. There are over 30 pairs of Guangzhou - Hong Kong high speed
trains in use with the duration of around 50 minutes.” I talked to Jade.
“Did you still remember our wish last year?” I raised out a question.
“Of course, we study at The University of Hong Kong in future” Matt said.
“Since the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR, education cooperation among Hong Kong, Macao and
the Mainland his has reached a new pedestal, achieving good progress in areas such as joint offering of
education programmes, student exchange, scientific research collaboration and professional training.” Jade
said in serious.
“Eh, you seem to a lot of research and preparation. We really want to learn in the same institution in a
near future, Jade!” I laughed!!
On Lunar New day, we gathered at Matt’s apartment in Guangzhou.
“My lovely brother, Matt” I hugged to him.
Jade kept smiling on her pretty face.
“What are we playing now? Matt asked for us.
“R-O-B-L-O-X, Roblox!” We said loudly together.
We brought out our ipad and mobile phones, tasting different kinds of baked seeds including seeds of
pumpkins, watermelons, sponge gourds, and fried dough twists. Those snacks were fully placed in Chinese
candy box.
Jade expressed her happiness to say “Through we lived far away from other each, internet and modern
traffic system in Greater Bay Area make our life becomes closely together.”
Matt and I nodded our head, even though or eyes kept painting to screen.
The development of the Greater Bay Area has a great significance in the country’s implementation of
innovation-driven development and opportunity for a new generation.
