Raindo
Korean International School, Lim, Yi-Zhu Tara - 12
It was a beautiful day, Dim Tim who was 10 years old and had bright blue eyes and blond hair and his friends,
Bruno, Harry and Charlie played together happily after school. Bruno, Harry and Charlie were Dim Tim’s only
friends.
One day when it was about time to leave school, Dim Tim and his friends played together like always.
They played and played until it was time to go home.
When Dim Tim went home, he saw everyone packing and tidying up. Dim Tim felt very curious
and went to his room which his sister and himself shared. His sister called Shirley was 14 years old, had brown
eyes and blond hair like Dim Tim. Shirley told Dim Tim that they were going to Raindo. Dim Tim didn’t know
what Raindo was and where it was. Shirley tried her best to describe but Dim Tim could not understand. Dim
Tim then went to his father’s room and knocked. Dim Tim heard his father’s footsteps coming towards the door.
Dim Tim immediately stood up straight and asked his father about why everyone was packing up. His Father
answered, “We are all going to Raindo because it’s too dangerous for children to live here now where everyone
is fighting against each other.” Dim Tim then asked, “What is Raindo and where is it?” His father answered,
“Raindo is a place; it is very near where we live, just 2 or 3 miles away from us. It is on the map if you see it
carefully; it is just between Hong Kong and Macau.” Dim Tim didn’t want to go to Raindo because he didn’t
want to leave his friends. But Dim Tim had no choice, so he started packing his own things.
When it was about time to leave, Dim Tim said goodbye to his friends and went on HST (High
Speed Transportation) and left Hong Kong.
When they arrived at Raindo, it was raining heavily. Dim Tim thought it was humid, thus it was
raining. Days passed by, and it was raining non stop. Every morning and every night, it was raining. He then
understood why it was called Raindo.
It was a beautiful morning, although it was still raining heavily. Dim Tim had a good night's sleep.
Dim Tim decided to get up early and dressed himself up. While Shirley and his father and some of the helpers
were still asleep, Dim Tim went outside and played with the puddle of water. While he was playing, he could see
a light sparkling at him. Dim Tim then walked nearer to the light and saw a huge portal. He went inside and
suddenly, everything he saw before he walked passed the portal was different! Dim Tim felt weird and afraid
because the rain suddenly stopped. Dim Tim turned back and saw the portal. He was smart, he immediately went
back to the portal and it was raining again. Dim Tim didn’t know what a portal was but he understood now. He
knew it was a kind of technology that transforms a thing to another place. He rushed back to his house and saw
the helpers walking around. Dim Tim immediately put his raincoat away so that nobody would feel strange about
him.
Another rainy day passed by. This time Dim Tim could hear a strange sound from his window. He
thought there might be something wrong with the window but it was actually from outside. Dim Tim put his
raincoat on and climbed out of the window. Dim Tim followed the direction of where the sound came from. He
walked and walked and the sound became louder and louder. When he reached his destination, he could see a
pair of electric shoes which could fly. The shoes were all soaking wet because of the rainy weather. Dim Tim
wanted to try it on because he had never ever worn a pair of flying electric shoes. He was afraid that it might be
someone's shoes. But Dim Tim didn’t care. He wore them on and suddenly, the sound became louder and
