Time Travel to the Greater Bay Area

DING DING!!! DING DING!!!” The ear-splitting noise of the alarm clock nearly made Phoebe FAINT!
Phoebe peeled off her pajamas and ran downstairs to the sitting room because she was late for school.
“Good morning Tess….” Phoebe stopped in mid-sentence and couldn’t believe her eyes…her
maid Tess had turned into a robot!
“WHO are you, & what did you do to my maid ?!” Phoebe shouted breathlessly. The robot
ignored her, and threw Phoebe a rotten sandwich.
Phoebe grabbed her school bag and went to the front door hopped into the car...and gasped! Her driver had
turned into a robot and the car suddenly turned into a time machine. Phoebe panicked as she watched the
driver disappeared into thin air. The time machine spun around so quickly that Phoebe almost fainted! The
car came to a sudden halt. When she saw the signpost outside, she had a complete meltdown!
She screeched “my goodness!! I’M IN GUANGZHOU!!!!!”
Frantically, Phoebe glanced at her watch and she couldn’t believe that she had been transported to the year
2426 ! Phoebe looked around and everything looked incredible. Phoebe thought to herself, “my goodness,
this place is WONDERFUL!”. Phoebe dashed out of her car and went straight to the building, where she
met a strange-looking girl with a green complexion.
The strange girl said to her in Putonghua.
Phoebe couldn’t understand what she was saying and luckily her watch automatically translated what the girl
said,
“Hello! My name is Yoyo Chen. I am seven years old. How about you?”
Phoebe answered in Cantonese, “ Hi! My name is Phoebe Chan. This year, I’m turning eleven. I live in
Hong Kong, which is North of Guangzhou. Then, Yoyo said,
“I’m going to the Greater Bay Area. Wanna join me in my car ?”. Phoebe nodded and they
hopped into this amazing floating car.
Within seconds, they arrived at Foshan, where Yoyo’s niece Fifi had a farm that raised robotic cows that
could produce milk of different flavours. Next, the girls flew to Dongguan where people lived in houses
made of floating clouds and run on solar power. They had such a wonderful time together such that Phoebe
had almost forgotten that it was time to go home. Yoyo said to Phoebe,
“Don’t worry, my mother has a time machine that can take you anywhere, anytime!” Phoebe
looked relieved. She was taken back to the year 2020 where she met her Dad at home.
“Phoebe! Where were you this past 12 months? We were so worried about you!” Phoebe’s father
exclaimed.
“Twelve months ? That doesn’t sound right !”, Phoebe thought she was only away a few hours !
Mother scolded her for running away from the family. Phoebe told her mother exactly what happened.
“Okay, I understand. I’m sorry, Phoebe’s mother said, hugging her. There was a huge
misunderstanding. It’s getting late now. You should sleep now, Phoebe. Goodnight.” Relieved,
Phoebe slept with a grin from ear to ear, ready for a new adventure…
